when it comes to playing with patterns and colors...i dont think there is a better way to do it than this!

this is gorgeous and a stunning way to liven up a plain white wall-fab-

this could be a lot of red...but used in the correct amounts like a funky powder room this could be a wonderful way to add some texture to a wall.

can you imagine all the cool stories your child could come up with staring at the wall? talk about a fun punishment!

this is a really interesting idea...

this is just a pretty pattern and i l-o-v-e it! i think this would look great in a fun reading room or sun room!

lately i have been interested in rugs which are a little unusual due to texture, color, or design.

& i think this rug composed of 100% wool pressed into felt like consistencies and rolled into flower like petal design-a.k.a *fabulous* fits the bill!

i love the pop of color in this rug, what a wonderful focal point this can be. like i always say don't be afraid of color!

this rug is cut into very interesting shapes considering it is a wool rug-i love the tree cutouts-very playful.

not sure which piece takes the cake on this one....

reminds me of an art piece about to be hung on the wall-love it-very abstract in design

this is an absolutely stunning rug! this is a piece i would definitely use in a lobby of a hotel, or in a funky basement like bar with an underground jazz band playing in the corners...yea i dig it.

when i mention the holiday season to most people and design i usually get responses about warm colors, leaves, santa, red, trees...etc. all those are great, but i noticed no one ever really thinks of lavender and flowers! i urge you to go out on a limb this season, step out of your comfort zone for a bit and see what loveliness you can come with!

for all my readers out there who enjoy monochromatic spaces here is a fabulous "hotel" in barcelona,

"el palauet" these apartments are for rent to travelers for 3 days or more-gorgeous place but i would love to see a little color somewhere...

great common space to relax outdoors, i love the water element

this ladies and gentlemen is the "w" hotel in hong kong...need i say more! the "w" has done it again, another fun and interesting hotel to stay at!

SHUTUP the rooftop pool is stunning! the graphics, the colors, the awesome pool grab bars...is all fabulous with a capital F!

my favorite element in this room besides the glowing ceiling treatment, the graphic on the ceiling, and the silver walls is that graphic rug, it works so well playing off the lines the window treatments make.

next we have the "dolder grand hotel" in zurich, this spa is phenomenal...love the curve in the ceiling and the shape of the space, the shape suggests femininity which works well with the purpose of this spa. the screens hanging in different patterns is lovely as well.

the graphic on the walls is wonderfully playful...

the red architecuture pillers are deliciously bold and divine! i love the lines they make in the ceiling and how it draws the eye up towards the heavens! the shag chic throws are fabulous with balancing out the drama in the space and adding softness.

i am super excited these items are out and ready to be bought! these are "framed items" a wonderful and inventive way to showcase simple things in your world and make them the center of attention! a great way to show off some personal belongings which are really important to you...or just a fun place to keep your keys!

cute key ring option-you can even paint them another color to make them stand out more!

a very cute way to hang a colorful book or vintage catalog, just be careful about weight and hanging items to close to anyone's head...not to feng shui

i want this for my home...i love the idea of showcasing flowers on the wall, this brings texture to walls, color and also brings the wonderful scent to nose level...couldn't you imagine a few of these going down a hallway?

i went to san francisco and took some photos for a client of mine who is really into tea...i thought this set would be a great addition to her home! this started off as a small job, but she liked them so much, they became 36x24 inch prints on canvas hanging in her living room!

she loves them and i had an awesome time shooting for her...plus i got to drink the tea when i was done!

this is an awesome idea to bring some fun interest into your life, you can find old desks from second hand stores, paint them, cut them in half and fix them to the wall. make sure you are hanging from studs in the walls and not in-between since the drywall might not hold the weight! for more how to contact me...happy friday folks

i am very used to looking at maps while driving
around because i easily get lost...but that is neither here nor there,
maps are a great way to add visual interest into
a room and instantly make an impact.
you can find some great maps at vintage thrifts stores for low prices!

you can also make interesting and unique patterns out of old maps
like these bird cut outs. i have done something similar to this
only elephants and giraffes just glue your map to cardboard or mat board and cut with a sharp exact-o knife
be careful!

this is a beautiful map with tons of color, be careful where you
place this since it can easily compete with other strong patterns in a room.

if you have a map you really like but there is not enough color,
do not worry, just be adventurous and add your own color using
sharpie pens

one of my favorite kind of maps are topography maps, i love
the detail, color, and intricate areas.
these look great cut into multiple same size cuts, mat and frame and
viola...you have a unique piece of art!

this is a luxurious bedroom! i want to run in and dive into the pillows! i love the canvas added over the bed...once again adding unique character!

this is a modern bath by design. lovely lines, lovely space and this canvas print, even showing an aerial view of vertical architecture adds a horizontal harmony to the space.

the best design element to me are these lovely over scaled
wire birdcages with 2d chandeliers inside. the color palette is soothing,
i can see myself lounging here...

the green grass on the walls is reminiscent of my thesis in college, i love the idea and the texture it
adds to the wall!
...plus i am just crazy about the pink wire pig...

this buffet style table is fabulous and really brings another level to eating out
the red chairs add a upscale flavor and mingle with the wonderful oversize rooster
on the walls...don't think i could eat chicken in here though!

the view here is stunning, i would love to sit out here at sunset, get comfy with those
pillows and drink a virgin rita...yes i said it "virgin"

of course we need to end with dessert...
i never thought anything would ever take my attention away from
chocolate cake, but this chandelier is totally over the top fierce!
almost looks like blown sugar cylinders...yum!

this first one is a mix of colors which i personally like a lot, orange and teal! i enjoy making these color story boards because you can be very creative and bring a lot of inspiration into someones life by collecting varies images and photographs in order to tell a story.

i love to read! you can get lost in a good book for hours about pirates or fairies, fantasize over beautiful photography or get fun ideas for your living space! what i love more than reading books and magazines is displaying them in a fun way...here are few examples of funky "b"'s aka bookshelves of funk!

i have a few people who wanted to see a few more ideas for spicing up their wall paint, so i am starting a series called "taste the rainbow"
hope there is some inspiration below!

this orange may be a little too overwhelming for a common space like covering the walls of your living room but this is a great hue for a pick me up in the ladies and gents.

this powder blue is calming and almost could be a neutral but what i like the best is the darker hue trim...this is a great way to play with colors!

purple signifies royalty and what a better place to feel like a king or queen than in your own formal dining room, and if you are thinking about doing purple-go bold and go all the way!!

Recently i read an article about a fair trade company called "One Thread" they have woman artisans make beautiful household accessories to be sold where all the profit goes to battered women and their children. this helps make a way for those women and their families, to give them a brighter future. i think this is fabulous and the items they sell are even more fabulous, today i am showing their latest, a pillow collection. these pillows are not inexpensive, but saving lives is just that.

this is such a beautiful way to contribute help and money to a wonderful cause!
their motto is this: "together we can change lives one thread at a time"

below is a no parking zone!! lovely sofas set in even more exciting spaces. i am big on color and using it to your advantage. if you are looking for a way to spice up your no parking zone, take a tip from below...hope you find some inspiration!

this room has amazing color and the designer used the age old trick of color coding the bookends in the amazing built in...it was a great idea to keep the sofa neutral and add a few funky pillows

Stunning interior! the bold colors and careful styling really make this space pop, i love the different shape pillows and the off center mirror-awesome

if you like bold colors on the wall, it's a good idea to keep your furniture neutral, but to add more flavor and glamor keep your furniture and accessories in metallic tones

for all my followers who enjoy match-e-match, here's a bright and fun way to achieve that look without going boring

this is a greeting card collection called "kitty without glasses" i was inspired from my pet rabbit twiggy believe it or not the blank stares she gives me always make me smile, i wonder what she is thinking? i wonder what ms kitty without glasses is thinking?

what ever happened to the way ads used to look? the happiness to sell products, the stunning colors of ads from the 50's? when did we all grow up...?
granted i was not around during this time but i can appreciate vintage ads...no matter how creepy some of the faces may be...i still get a good chuckle out of it!

there are great colors in this ad, but is she selling the car or the scarf??
one might never know...
she looks like she's got something up her sleeve

this woman looks as if she is on the verge of being on a missing person's poster
great design of the ad though...
the way the text is and her body position really leads your eye easily through the ad and to important information

i've been there before...what do you do?

nice rendering of an interior, can you guess what's being sold here?

i think fun wallpaper can create character and add pizzaz to any room if you are not afraid of it. there are many different ways to use wallpaper...create a light fixture, frame a piece, use it on furniture...on a wall=) here are a few spaces i like because there was a unique wallpaper or pop of color in an image: most wallpaper from twenty2-enjoy!

lighting is crucial in all spaces; it sets mood, ambiance, energy
here are a few pendants which i found had a lot of character.
do not be afraid to chose lighting with odd angles or colors.
you can have a lot of fun and add enormous wit to any room,
the "flapper" pendants are particularly fun!

there joints can be moved and rearranged just like the classical "wooden man"

garage design

i came upon a space which i think is lovely! it is a transformation from a garage into a livable space, the owner of this newly renovated space is Mr. Andreas Manolioudakis, a bachelor with a bedroom the size of most apartments in his neighborhood. i love the colors and perfectly placed patterns mixed with the industrial concrete floors and muted walls. two of my favorite items in this garage is the lime green kitchen table and the indoor garden on the other side of the kitchen sink...nice touch!

there are many fun niches in this "apartment" which makes it unique not only from its exterior position but in it's clever design.

lately i have had a small obsession with photographing nature, flowers in particular. not to sound cliche, but the color, the shapes, the intensity of flowers clinging to every morsel of sunlight is stunning to me...(too dramatic??) okay i guess i like flowers. these are a few recent photos i have taken and really like, hope you enjoy them!

as promised...ducks! these fellas were a little camera shy, had to hide and sit very quietly and wait for them to calm down...i ended up with a hand full of duck poo but it was worth it!

want some Moroccan inspiration? here is a conceptual design board i have created to bring some color and ideas on how to create some magic into your outdoor space. there are some amazing Moroccan products at the following store "Tazi Designs"...that's where the fountain and table came from. don't be afraid of colors and elaborate designs. one of my favorite features here is the blue door, for some reason i think blue doors with some organic metal work screams Moroccan.
add some flowers and a hammock with a beautiful fountain covered in glass mosaic tile lit by stunning lanterns and you have a relaxing evening in your very own Moroccan paradise.

i am yela

location: morocco
in what used to be a 300 year old grand palace stands a
dwelling which has been resurrected
into a charming hotel...anayela.

whats even more attractive and interesting
is the story behind the concierge, a young girl
named yela used to live in the palace and her
diary was found years later in one of the secret rooms.
her words were hammered into huge silver
doors throughout the hotel so guests traipsing
the halls can read her words...the name of the
hotel literally translates into "i am yela"

i am not sure how i feel about having the words of a young girl be put on display for everyone to read considering they were private even years later...but in concept i like the idea. the elements in the pool area are beautiful especially the over sized lanterns, the mosaics, and the archways.

i would not mind eating a lamb dinner here at sunset. maybe one day i will get there!

the color yellow can brighten up any room, piece of art, and make normal devices pop with character and a sense of jovial energy.
different shades can be used in different rooms...lighter softer shades can be used in bedrooms, on the walls, linens, draperies...even as accessories on the wall.
leave darker vivid colors for accessories, pillows, a few signature pieces or even a feature wall with frames!

vivid colors in an interior makes the living space feel alive, just be careful not to overwhelm the space with a colors which could compete and cause friction in your space, rather use complimentary colors together if you are planning on using more than two vivid colors together

this rug is fabulous!

these organic chairs are from a fun line at Ralph Pucci, one of my favorite furniture designers.

who knew yellow could be so inviting...

here is another example of a softer shade of yellow accompanied by a nice graphic design, notice the accessories are complimentary with organic woods and materials...leaving a pop of red for interest with the table lamp, great!
